Few hours ago Microsoft showcased their upcoming operating system for tablet computers and desktop PCs. Initial feedback on new operating system based on features shown in the keynote. If you want to have a look at how Windows 8 looks then have a look at these screenshots.
New version of Windows is based on Metro UI which was introduced with Windows Phone 7. Microsoft taken utmost measures to make Windows users will have consistent user experience across devices. Windows 8 also improved in many areas to let users to manage their computer in much better way. One example for that is revamped Windows Task Manager.
Now that Windows 8 is based on Metro UI and new eco system, Microsoft also made it very very simple for developers to build applications for Windows. It is heaven for developers to build applications with wide range of hardware APIs available in Windows 8.

You can download Windows 8 Developer Preview with Developer tools 64 bit version(4.8 GB), Windows 8 Developer preview without developer tools 64 bit version(3.6 GB) and Windows Developer preview without developer tools 32 bit version(2.8 GB).
Microsoft also offering a technical preview for their new Live Connect. With Live Connect developers can build applications which can connect to user’s Skydrive, Hotmail and Messenger with APIs using Single Sign On(SSO).
Coming to hardware requirements you dont need any hardware upgrade required to run Windows 8 if you already having a Windows Vista or Windows 7 compatible machine. Here is the list of system hardware requirements for Windows 8.
- 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
- 1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
- 16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
- DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver
- Taking advantage of touch input requires a screen that supports multi-touch
